Junior Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Junior Designer is a full-time position in Bay Head, NJ, that supports the Principal Designer and Designer/Project Manager in executing projects from start to finish. They help in all aspects of the design process: client communication, site measurements, renderings, presentations, purchasing, tracking, execution, and photography. They also will help run our Instagram account and the retail side at Prim Studio in Bay Head. There is ample opportunity for growth and development at Prim Designs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete site visits: Take photos and detailed measurements, receive and inspect deliveries, work with vendors and trades, interact with clients.

  • Design: Create presentations on Google Slides with Sketchup renderings and selection boards. Assist Principal Designer during presentations. Help prepare proposals on Studio Designer.

  • Project management: Create technical drawings and organize into Design Books. Prepare “Friday Update” emails for each client (to be finalized and sent by Project Manager), gathering updates and questions throughout the week. Help to analyze and resolve complex, technical design and installation issues.

  • Operations: Maintain the design library of samples and resources.

  • Retail: Strategize ways to help product turnover. Help manage inventory on Studio Designer and Square. Greet walk-in customers and manage sales for walk-ins and guests at events. Unpack, tag, and stage new inventory.

  • Social media: Post about inventory that is available in the store and about past projects. Strategize ways to improve our social media presence.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency in SketchUp, Google Apps. Prefer experience in Studio Designer, Square.

  • Prefer 1-2 years professional experience in interior design and project management. Prefer retail experience.

  • Have experience creating technical drawings: millwork, electrical, plumbing, tile.

  • Be a proactive and independent worker, seeking to resolve issues on their own as best they can

  • Have a strong attention to detail and high standards for good quality work

  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to organize tasks according to priority

  • Be physically able to perform various installation project requirements such as lifting, standing for long periods, using a ladder, installing small artwork, styling and other physical duties

  • Have reliable transportation to go to and from job sites, showrooms, meetings, etc. Prefer if the candidate has their own car to execute site visits and meetings. Must have their own laptop.
